Brittany
We left Amboise the next day to travel to Brittany, stopping for lunch in the very pretty medieval city of Fougères.

We arrived at the rocky islet of Mont-Saint-Michel in the late afternoon when the day visitors were leaving. The abbey was established in the 10th century, with construction stretching from the 11th through the 16th centuries. It has been recognized as an historic monument since 1862. The spire was added in 1897.
We embarked on our journey to our hotel room, which involved ascending several flights of stairs, going outside, walking along the ramparts, descending more flights of stairs, entering another building and ascending more stairs. Some of our fellow travelers asked if we would be given maps to navigate our way.
Having some time, we took this opportunity to explore the village before meeting up with our group for dinner. We had another wonderful meal and then took a post-prandial stroll.

We successfully found our way back to our hotel room. I decided to get up early to see the sunrise. While taking photographs, I noticed a hot-air balloon rising in front of the sun. A short time later, the balloon floated by directly in from of our window. It was a magical experience.
We managed not to get lost on our way to the breakfast room. Then we had our tour of the abbey.

It was time to leave Mont-Saint-Michel and get on the bus to head to Bayeux, another charming medieval town, stopping for lunch in Villedieu-les-Poëles.
